Bike To Work 2010
Bike To Work Day 2010 is again the 3rd Friday of May. That's the 21st this year.
The event itself will remain quite similar to recent years, pancakes, bike shops and rides, Museums of Visual Materials.
See the Bike To Work Day advertisement in the Downtown Sioux Falls Spring 2010 issue of Exactly Magazine.
Snakebite's Bike To Work Challenge will be ready to go. He'll be there to sign you up for another year of biking to work for rewards. The rules will be tweaked a bit to keep things interesting.
We're finalizing details and will redo the graphics and 2009's on this site soon.
Thanks!

Bike path is slowly drying up...I said slowly
There is water under the bridge at the Fall Park Area. It is dry enough to walk on the dirt down to the bike path at the area of the Farmer's Market. The rest of ride up North was dry. Getting off on the Lawn at Russell is the best bet until it dries up.
This morning Sioux Falls smelled like ham again.
Watch out for a lot of pot holes on 4th Avenue.
Hope your daily bicycle commute is as enjoyable as mine.

Last Day Of School!
A common critisism of our bike to work day is it's coincidence with the last day of school. We've always held our event to coincide with the national day.
I happily noticed the school district has kindly selected a day other than the third Friday of May to be the final day this year.
Excellent.

Bike To Work 2009 - Meeting #1
The bike to work committee met today for the first planning meeting for 2009. We made the following decisions.
To have a bike to work day May 15.
To have it at the Museum of Visual Materials.
To have pancakes again.
If you'd like to place a banner on your site here's one 400 pixels wide:
More to come...

That's A Wrap
Did you ride your bike to work on May 16? Did you come down for free pancakes? Did you enjoy them?
200 of you did - and that's a record for attendance - although in years past we've had no real good way to count people. But now we do...because we made friends with the Museum of Visual Materials. What a great venue for Bike To Work Day!
Thanks to these bike shops for making Sioux Falls Bike To Work Day a great success:Harlan's Bike & Tour
Praire Cycles
Spoke-n-Sport
Two Wheel Dealer
Thanks also to the individuals who show up to meetings, drink the coffee, and make the event happen.
The local daily covered the event. Here's the article.

Bike Bus
What is a “bike bus?” A bike bus is a group of people who bike to work in a group. “Bus” because there is a set route and timetable. “Bike” because all the “passengers” are on bikes!”
As one lady put it, in the following video, “It’s just a lovely way to start m’ day.” Enjoy!
Bike Bus. Call your friends and neighbors. Try it!
